Under your jaw sits the hyoid, a small U-shaped bone just above your throat. It's the only bone in your body that doesn't connect to another bone. It floats.
Where it sits shapes the angle between your chin and neck. Held high, you get that clean, tight line under the jaw. When it drops, your jawline appears saggy and inflates more when you talk.
What holds it up is the suprahyoid group: mylohyoid, geniohyoid and the digastrics. They form the floor of your mouth and work like a sling for the hyoid. Stronger muscles, better hold. The good thing is your can actually train these muscles at any age.
Press and flatten the gum against the roof of your mouth, then roll it back into a ball with your tongue, it will train these muscles. It's called myofunctional therapy and it's a technique studied for decades to improve facial structure and breathing.
Regular gum will get you started. But to properly overload these muscles and keep progressing, you need resistance that lasts. Jaw Toner Gum stays tough long enough to actually get you results.
Regular gum is too soft to make the floor of your mouth work. Jaw Toner Gum is 10× tougher, so every chew is a rep for the suprahyoids and the tongue. Add 3 sets of 10 chin tucks against your fist and the sling gets trained from both ends.
Resisted chin exercises raised under-jaw muscle strength in 54 adults. Eccentric chin closure beat both the Shaker and CTAR protocols.
Chin tuck against resistance activated and fatigued the suprahyoids in 40 healthy adults, with far less neck-strap involvement than the Shaker.
Six weeks of multi-direction chin tuck against resistance raised tongue pressure, tongue thickness and suprahyoid activity over single-direction training.
After 12 weeks of orofacial myofunctional therapy the hyoid stayed put or lifted, while untreated controls drifted down and back.
Thirty seconds of resisted facial-muscle work twice a day thickened the digastric under the jaw and shrank lower-face volume in 50 women.
Forward head posture lengthens the suprahyoids, so they must pull harder to lift the hyoid. Chin tucks train the muscle and the posture at once.
Suprahyoid studies measure strength, thickness and hyoid position, not fat loss. Training tones the sling; how visible that is under the jaw depends on body fat and consistency.
Your jawline is edged by the masseter. Your cheeks are shaped by the buccinator and zygomatic muscles. All of them are skeletal muscle, and skeletal muscle grows when you load it.
Regular gum can't load them. It's small, it goes soft fast, and your jaw barely opens to chew it. That's a quarter rep.
Jaw Toner Gum is bigger and tougher. Your jaw has to open wider to take each bite, so the masseter works through its full range under real resistance. Your cheeks have to squeeze harder to keep that bigger piece between your teeth, and your tongue has to work harder to move it.
Bigger bolus, more range, more resistance. Every muscle in the lower face earns its rep.
In a 6-month trial, ordinary gum raised bite force but did nothing to masseter thickness. The load was too light. Jaw Toner Gum is 10× tougher, so the muscle has a reason to grow.
Dermatologists rated women's faces almost 3 years younger after 20 weeks of facial exercise, with fuller upper and lower cheeks.
Thirty-second facial-muscle sessions twice a day thickened the zygomaticus major and reduced lower-face surface area and volume.
Twenty minutes of chewing exercise a day, five days a week, increased masseter thickness and bite force against controls.
Six months of ordinary gum, three times a day, raised bite force but left masseter thickness unchanged in 58 adults.
Across 692 adults, wider midfaces went with larger chewing-muscle cross-section. Structure and muscle travel together.
A systematic review of facial-exercise trials found reduced wrinkles, sagging and expression lines with consistent isometric training.
Facial-exercise trials measure muscle size and rater-scored appearance. Results vary with body fat, age and consistency. We claim muscle, not bone.
Tougher than regular chewing gum, rep after rep
The tongue-press and hard-chew drills used in myofunctional therapy target the exact muscles under your jaw
Under-jaw tissue is muscle-supported. Training the sling that holds it is the natural lever.
Hard chewing loads the masseter with every rep
Mouth breathers show lower masseter activity. Oropharyngeal muscle training halved sleep-apnoea severity across 9 studies.
We make no claims about bone or facial structure outcomes. Muscles adapt to training; the rest varies by individual.
Regular gum is too soft to make your chewing muscles work hard. Jaw Toner Gum is 10× tougher, so every chew is a rep for the masseter, and pressing it to the roof of your mouth works the muscles under your chin. Muscles adapt to load. Consistency does the rest.
Most people feel the workout on day one. Visible changes depend on consistency and body fat. Like anything, good things are built with time. It could take 2 weeks to 2 months to see a noticeable difference.
Start with 5–10 minutes and build up to 10–30 minutes a day. Keep 1–2 rest days a week, like any other muscle. It's a workout, not a habit, so don't chew it all day.
Start with a third to half a piece while your jaw adapts. Work up to a full piece, then 1–2 pieces at once when it feels easy. The How to use page has the full plan.
Drink cold water while you chew. It re-hardens the gum for a while. Once it stays soft, bin it and start a fresh piece next session.
Yes. Lots of people train with the 3.0 and use the gum on rest days, or add a gum session for extra volume. Keep at least one full rest day a week.
Chew with your back teeth, evenly on both sides, and stop if anything hurts. Muscle burn is fine; joint or tooth pain is not. If you have braces, weak or sensitive teeth, crowns or a history of jaw problems, check with your dentist before starting.
Used correctly and not overdone, a Jaw Toner shouldn't cause jaw problems. Overuse can cause soreness or discomfort, and serious issues like TMJD are very unlikely unless you already have a jaw condition.
If you have TMJ disorder, jaw pain or clicking, check with a professional before using it.
Don't swallow it on purpose. It's gum, not food. Spit it out and bin it when your session is done.
No. It's a tough training gum and not designed for kids. Keep it out of reach of children.
